Bauer Verlagsgruppe installs PlanSystem3 to optimize production of four leading women’s magazines
Germany, 20th April, 2005 – International magazine publisher, Bauer Verlagsgruppe, is implementing Van Gennep’s latest workflow management system, PlanSystem3™ (version 3.5), to streamline the production of four leading women’s magazines and allow full Adobe® InDesign® Creative Suite and InDesign 2 integration.
Mona Müenstermann, IT Consultant at Bauer Verlagsgruppe, has been overseeing the PlanSystem3 installation. ‘PlanSystem3 helps the whole team to work more effectively together and greatly improves the reliability of our production workflow. By helping to reduce time spent on administrative processes our team are able to concentrate more on their creative input.’
Ms Müenstermann continues, ‘A key feature for us is PlanSystem3’s ability to integrate with a full range of desktop publishing packages. The previous system was only compatible with QuarkXPress, so PlanSystem3’s ability to work with both QuarkXPress and Adobe packages provides much more flexibility. The production workflow will also be simpler as we can now see thumbnails of InDesign pages in PlanMaker and PlanView and work in parallel on one page in InCopy®. ‘
‘In addition, PlanSystem3 offers a variety of streamlining tools including tracking, versioning and reporting capabilities that make production workflows very visual and easy to use for every department, whether it be creative, editorial or production.’
PlanSystem3 will be implemented in Bauer Verlagsgruppe’s Hamburg office and is being used to aid the production of four of the companies leading titles for women, Tina, Laura, Alles Für die Frau and Bella.
Ms Müenstermann concludes ‘We have been working with the Van Gennep team since 1996, following the implementation of their earlier systems, PlanSystem Light and PlanMaker. Our long history of working with the Van Gennep team and our experience of their previous systems, gives us confidence in PlanSystem3.’
