simplification of workflows.
In addition, Van Gennep will introduce new versions of PlanMakerfE ™ and
PlanViewfE ™, based on the original PlanSystem3 modules, adopted for use
with Woodwing’s Smart Connection Enterprise.
Also shown for the first time at IFRAExpo 2006, will be Van Gennep’s Dolce
Vita Media Solutions™. As the first application from the Dolce Vita line,
Dolce Vita Plan™ provides flat planning as a stand-alone design tool,
offering small publishing companies and (freelance) creatives unique production
features
and ease of use.
Ton Van Gennep, president and CEO, Van Gennep, comments, “We believe
that our new solutions launched at IFRAExpo further demonstrate our market
understanding
and long-term industry experience. Van Gennep is committed to the production
of state-of-the-art technology, designed to provide publishers, cataloguers,
retailers, media agencies and design studios with solutions to streamline workflows
and maximize productivity.”
Launched at IFRAExpo 2006, PlanSystem3 v3.6.5 offers a number of new features,
including:
• LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) / active directory integration
- Enabling users to access PlanSystem3 in a server directory controlled environment
• New folios and versioning features in the edition plan - Offering users more
control over page numbering and page versions, also supporting layers in the
related Adobe® InDesign® layouts
• Additional features to handle relative deadlines - Offering better control
on the deadlines per production phase, resulting in one final, all-encompassing
deadline
• Improvements to the PlanSystem plug-ins for Adobe® InDesign® and
InCopy® (CS2),
and the PlanSystem XTension for Quark XPress (XPress 6 and 7)
Also shown is a preview of PlanSystem3’s WebSolutions, to be released
later in Q4, including browser based edition plan viewing, publication progress
tracking,
production browsing, creation and editing.
PlanMakerfE and PlanViewfE, accessible to users of both Macintosh® and Windows® platforms,
are modified versions of the original PlanSystem3 modules, made available to
users of Woodwing’s Smart Connection Enterprise. As a scalable workflow
solution providing tools to manage and track information in any publishing workflow,
Smart Connect Enterprise uses PlanMakerfE’s edition planning and workflow
streamlining functionalities to provide customers with time and money savings.
PlanMakerfE is an advanced, easy to use edition-planning tool, offering Smart
Connection Enterprise users with real time space calculation, graphic status
and element planning. The latest version includes additional features designed
to further simplify and improve the accuracy of magazine production. Users can
now view publications based on live previews, recognise conflicting pages before
the publication is completed, and view the status of layouts, adverts and articles
connected to the edition plan. Multiple users can now also view the same edition
plans.
Available for the first time to Smart Connection Enterprise users, PlanViewfE
provides a read-only viewing capability, enabling users to control access and
content changes to an edition plan. Users can browse plans, view connected layouts
with status information, and display all thumbnails with a zoom function of up
to 100%.
Van Gennep will also use IFRAExpo as the launch pad for its new, stand-alone
publication design tool, Dolce Vita Plan. As the first product of its new Dolce
Vita Media Solutions product line, Dolce Vita Plan has been developed for small
publishing companies, small work groups and freelance creatives. A flexible,
easy-to-use, affordable desktop solution, Dolce Vita Plan helps save time and
money by eliminating the need for connections to large online systems, servers
and databases. Enabling users to work locally, either alone or in small work
groups, the new system streamlines production of magazines and other magazine-like
publications. Downloadable from the Internet, Dolce Vita Plan is an off-the-shelf
product requiring no operator training.
Also exhibiting on stand # 5218 will be the German based prepress specialist
and PlanSystem3 distributor, Otterbach Medien GmbH. At IFRAExpo, Otterbach will
introduce the first SWOP and ICC certified colour accurate contract monitor proofing
system, Remote Director, to the European market. Enabling users to view true,
colour accurate print representations on screen, Remote Director increases production
flexibility, reduces mistakes and significantly increases time and money savings.
Designed for use with both Macintosh and Windows compatible monitors, Remote
Director is downloaded from the internet for quick and easy installation - aimed
at printers, photographers, publishers, prepress users, corporate companies and
anyone demanding complete colour accuracy throughout the print production process.
Available as a plug-in module to PlanSystem3, Remote Director can also be used
as an independent software solution.
Ton Van Gennep concludes, “We are very excited by the opportunity to introduce
our new products at IFRAExpo 2006. By continuing to develop and further improve
our product range, we hope to maintain our 100% customer satisfaction record,
and offer solutions that meet the needs of the publishing industry today, and
in the future.”
