Van Gennep Launches Stand-alone Products for Small Publishing Houses at IFRAExpo 2006

Amsterdam, October 9th, 2006 – Van Gennep is pleased to introduce the new Dolce Vita Media Solutions™ at IFRAExpo 2006. As the first application from the new Dolce Vita line, Dolce Vita Plan™ provides flat planning as a stand-alone design tool, offering small publishing companies, small work groups and freelance creatives unique ease of use and production streamlining capabilities.

As an off-the-shelf product requiring no operator training, Dolce Vita Plan enables users to enjoy benefits including:
• Simple operation – File based, no workflow system or database necessary
• Improved productivity – Streamlined production process
• Time and money savings – Less production time. Reduced production time saves money.

Ton Van Gennep, CEO, Van Gennep, comments, “We noticed a gap in the market for smaller publishing houses requiring the functionality that PlanSystem™, our well-established publishing workflow management solution, offers larger publishing houses. We developed Dolce Vita Plan as a simple to operate product which is easy to use from installation.”

“ Dolce Vita Plan was created to leave smaller publishing houses and creative groups more time to enjoy life, hence the name, ‘Dolce Vita’. In addition, the new solution removes the need for connections to larger online systems, servers and databases. Allowing users to work locally, either alone or in small groups, Dolce Vita Plan streamlines production of magazines and other similar publications.”

Available for both Macintosh® and Microsoft® Windows® platforms, Dolce Vita Plan replaces many of the manual processes associated with traditional publication production and design packages, enabling users to save time and money.

Dolce Vita Plan offers an easy to use edition-planning tool, for creating and maintaining editions/flat plans. The tool enables tailoring of plans based on signatures (numerals assigned to each section of a page to show correct sequencing), planning of pages and assignment of existing layouts. The new application also offers a graphic display of all pages and elements, including editorial, advertising and marketing, and real time space calculation. The production progress can also be tracked through thumbnails of each page, as they move through the production cycle.

Benefits include:

• Ability to create and maintain edition plans
• Available for both Macintosh and Windows
• Function to create and maintain edition plans by drag and drop
• Facility to import and place ad lists
• Viewing of publication based on live previews
• Viewing of live statistics of advertising to editorial ratios
• Capability to catch conflicting pages long before a publication goes to print

Downloadable from the Internet, Dolce Vita Plan is already enabling users across Europe to enjoy time and money savings and thereby live “the good life.” Ton Van Gennep, CEO, Van Gennep, concludes, “Having seen the success that PlanSystem3 has brought to larger publishing houses, we are looking forward to seeing the same results among smaller work groups, and providing them with an automated, organised solution to prevent mistakes and streamline production.”
